Kamaru Usman and Colby Covington rematch

Kamaru Uman, the reigning welterweight UFC champion, will be taking on American Colby Covington this November in a rematch.

Coincidentally, both fighters are African with Nigerian roots who have developed ties to the United States.

Conflict Story

Kamaru Usman is the UFC welterweight champion. He is a favorite to win against Colby Covington, who is number one in his division. The odds are that 71.43% of the time Kamaru wins and 32.26% of the time Colby wins.

Bookmakers put the odds up after they said that welterweight title rematch was main event of UFC 268. The guy who lost to Colby Covington didn’t fight as good as he did before.

Covington then got his career back on track after an early win over former division champion Tyron Woodley. Usman had three more successful defenses of the belt, once against Gilbert Burns and twice against Jorge Masvidal.

“He’s been taking EPO his whole career. It’s obvious. He has a chemical imbalance, his whole back and face is covered in acne. He’s 35 years old. He’s not a teenager and he’s not going through puberty. He shouldn’t have a chemical imbalance. All this is because his testosterone and estrogen levels are not normal. So he’s the head of EPO.

The people he trained with, who I knew from my wrestling days in college, told me the same thing. They can confirm that he used to inject himself with EPO up his arse.

I didn’t cheat or cut corners. I’ve come a long way to get here. So he’ll have to live with that. He’ll have problems later. His organs will fail. He is shortening his life by years,” Covington told Submission Radio.

The bottom line

Usman is currently going on a 14 fight winning streak, his past opponents haven’t won in as many bouts. His first bout with Covington took place in December 2019 at UFC 245 and ended after the 5th round.

Camaru has defeated Jorge Masvidal twice. He has also outpointed Gilbert Burns. Covington is only one fight since he lost to Usman. Camaru won two times and knocked out Gilbert Burns in three rounds.
