Tokyo 2020 athletics day 9: women’s 10,000m

There are many different sports at the Olympic Games. The ninth day has lots of different things to see. There will be a marathon, high jump, 10,000m, javelin and 1,500m. Then there is the 4x400m relay for men and women.

What’s happening?

Day nine of the Tokyo 2020 athletics event will be busy. The ladies’ marathon final, the men’s high jump final and the 10,000m final are all set to go at daybreak with other javelin finals scheduled on Thursday evening followed by 1,500m finals for both men and women.

Who should we expect to see?

The women’s marathon will be held near Sapporo, and the Kenyan Brigid Kosgei is expected to be one of the favorites in this race. Ethiopia’s Birhane Dibaba, Rose Dereje and Zeineba Yimer are also strong contenders.

Three-time world champion Maria Lasitskene from Russia is worth a look for those interested in watching the high jump event.

There are many athletes competing in the track and field event. The people you should watch are Emily Sisson, Camille Bascombe, Tsehai Gemechu, Johannes Vetter, Finn Lassi Etelatalo, Cole Hawker and Alisson Felix. They will be running or throwing things.

Hellen Obiri

Ethiopia’s Tsegay and Kenya’s Obiri were the top two in women’s 5000 meter preliminaries. Ethiopia’s Gudaf Tsegay, the event world-leader didn’t lose in heat 2 of the 7000 race in 14:55.74, finishing ahead of 2016 and 2019 reigning world champion Hellen Obiri from Kenya; America’s Elise Cranny took fourth place to advance.
